It was announced earlier this month that John Barrowman will host a new All Star Musicals with a panel of esteemed West End and Broadway talent, led by theatre legend Elaine Paige.
ITV has now unveiled the full panel of expert critics who’ll be joining Elaine Paige in critiquing the performances of seven celebrities.
Broadway icon Kristin Chenoweth, Kevin Clifton of Strictly Come Dancing notability and West End performer Trevor Dion Nicholas will all join Elaine – who will also act as a mentor to the as yet unannounced celebrities – on the panel.
The show will feature performances from John and all of the panel including a duet with stage legends Elaine and Kristin.
The multi-talented Kristin Chenoweth has had noted success across film, television, voiceover and stage. She received an Emmy Award for her role as Olive in Pushing Daisies and a Tony Award for You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown. Chenoweth is also a singer and has released multiple albums.
“The world needs more shows like All Star Musicals, and I’m honoured to celebrate the art of musical theatre with all the lucky people who get to watch it on television! I know this experience will be one for the books, and with the one and only Elaine Paige at the helm, it will undoubtedly be the best television special of the year. I count myself very fortunate for this opportunity.” – Kristin Chenoweth
Kevin is best known for his role as a professional dancer on the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, which he joined in 2013. A regular finalist, he won for the first time last year with documentarian Stacey Dooley. In 2010, Kevin made his debut in musical theatre with Dirty Dancing the Musical and is currently appearing in rock musical Rock of Ages.
“When I was asked if I would like to be part of All Star Musicals I was like ‘hell yeah’, but to be asked to be part of the actual judging panel was another level. I am so excited to join the rest of the panellists and being honest, it will be nice to be on the other side of the desk for once.” – Kevin Clifton
Trevor received critical acclaim having originated the role of Genie in the West End production of Disney classic Aladdin, a role he continues to play at the Prince Edward Theatre. He also performed the role on Broadway.
“This is the type of show that sparks generations of new performance and theatre loving souls. I could not be more proud to be a piece of something with so much potential to inspire.” – Trevor Dion Nicholas
Elaine, a stage veteran and broadcaster whose theatre credits include Evita and Cats, previously said of her involvement:
“All Star Musicals is the perfect opportunity for me to channel two of my greatest passions – musical theatre and mentoring. I’m looking forward to following the celebrities on their journey to performing on London’s most prestigious stage, and of course it’s an added bonus to have a front row seat on the night itself!” – Elaine Paige
