The stage version of ITV drama Band of Gold opens its UK Tour this winter.

The stage adaptation of Kay Mellor’s award-winning ITV series Band of Gold will premiere later this year. The cast includes Laurie Brett, Gaynor Faye, Kieron Richardson, Shayne Ward and Sacha Parkinson.

The original Granada production captivated over 15 million viewers each week when it aired on ITV. The nail-biting thriller tells the story of a group of sex workers – Carol, Rose, Anita and Gina – as they battle to survive whilst working in a notorious red-light district. When one of their colleagues is murdered, they need to find the killer before they strike again.

ITV aired three seasons of the Bradford based drama between 1995-1997 which starred amongst others Geraldine James, Cathy Tyson, Barbara Dickson and Samantha Morton. The stage adaption is looking to replicate the success of Fat Friends The Musical which was inspired by another of Mellor’s TV series.

The golden theatre experience will run from Thursday 28th November through to Saturday 14th December at Leeds Grand Theatre, before embarking on a 2020 UK Tour.

The telly version of Band of Gold was first aired in 1995
