Comedian Tom Allen has been named as Rhod Gilbert’s successor on The Apprentice: You’re Fired.
The Apprentice: You’re Fired complements The Apprentice and sees a panel of business gurus and celebrity fans grill each unsuccessful candidate, before the final ‘You’re Hired’ episode celebrating the winner. Allen succeeds Rhod Gilbert as host with the news being announced on the BBC Radio 2 Breakfast Show this morning.
Gilbert has decided to step down from the show after three series citing tour commitments.
“I’m back on the road after a seven year break, and with such a busy stand-up touring schedule, it’s time to hand over the reins of You’re Fired to someone else. The brilliant Tom Allen is going to smash it. In a good way.” – Rhod Gilbert
Allen started as a stand up at the age of 22 and went on to win both So You Think You’re Funny in Edinburgh and the BBC New Comedy Awards in the same year, 2005.
His television credits include Bake Off: Extra Slice, Mock The Week and Live At The Apollo.
“I’m excited and humbled to be joining this wonderful, much loved show as host. I’m looking forward to analysing, satirising and, dare I say, celebrating the many ‘interesting’ choices the candidates make during their Apprentice journey whilst gaining valuable insight into the business world.” – Tom Allen
The Apprentice and The Apprentice: You’re Fired both return to the BBC later this year airing one after the other on BBC One and Two respectively.
