Disgraced broadcaster gives plea to charges.
Former BBC and ITV newsreader Peter Rowell has given a guilty plea to charges of sexual assault against teenage girls.
The 53-year-old presenter had worked for such programmes as HTV’s regional show The West Tonight and BBC Radio Bristol.
He had been charged with 12 accounts of indecent assault and a further six charges of making indecent pictures of children. All the victims involved were girls under the age of 16 and the offences date back as far as the 1990s.
The North East born personality went missing in April last year after the death of his father. He failed to turn up for work at the BBC Radio Bristol studios and a manhunt for the host ultimately lead to the former BBC Points West anchor being found a day later in Cumbria.
Two weeks after Rowell vanished police charged him over the allegations of indecent assault.
