As principal photography commences in Melbourne, Australia, NBCUniversal International Studios, Tony Ayres Productions, Matchbox Pictures and Heyday Television productions have announced the cast line up for the production.
The eight-episode drama series Clickbait is described by Netflix as ‘a character-based thriller’ which explores the ways in which our most dangerous and uncontrolled impulses are fuelled in the age of social media and reveals the ever-widening fractures we find between our virtual and real-life personas.
Zoe Kazan stars as Pia Brewer a young woman desperate for answers in the search for her missing brother in a case that has become a media sensation while Betty Gabriel appears as Sophie Brewer an Oakland woman struggling to keep her family together as they become the subject of the biggest media story in the nation.
Adrian Grenier features as Nick Brewer a man who has a seemingly perfect life-loving wife, two sons, beautiful home however it is all derailed when he becomes a part of this bizarre crime and Phoenix Raei appears as Roshan Amir a detective with the Oakland Police Department who finds himself at the centre of a media storm as he investigates this case.
The programme will be produced at Docklands Studios in Melbourne and marks the first Netflix original series to be produced in Victoria.
