TV specials UK viewers are most excited for this Christmas

A new study has revealed the Christmas TV specials people are most excited about this year, with Ghosts – the popular BBC comedy – taking the top spot.

The research, conducted by online casino website CZR, used Google Keyword Planner to analyse nationwide searches for this year’s upcoming Christmas specials, from April through to October, to identify which have seen the biggest interest to date. And it turns out that the top five most highly anticipated specials this year range from comedy, science fiction and soap opera to dramas and entertainment. A little something for everyone.

Speaking on the findings, an expert from CZR:

“It’s interesting to see which Christmas TV specials people are most excited for this year, and it’s always great to see the classic Christmas specials have made the list such as Call the Midwife, Strictly Come Dancing and Eastenders as it’s a testament to the British public’s loyalty to their favourite shows.

“One noteworthy aspect of the ranking is that the long-awaited Doctor Who special episodes featuring David Tennant which aired earlier this month are likely to cause a further increase in interest in the Christmas special – especially given the initial reaction to Ncuti Gatwa’s new doctor has been positive. It remains to be seen who’ll dominate the viewing figures this Christmas, but clearly, BBC and BBC iPlayer will be a staple in many people’s homes.”
