Lara Pulver and Rupert Evans Join Sky Atlantic’s Fleming

Sky Atlantic has revealed more casting details about its forthcoming biopic on James Bond creator Ian Fleming which will star Dominic Cooper in the title role.

Lara Pulver, who will shortly be seen in Starz’s fantasy drama Da Vinci’s Demons, will play the character of Ann O’Neill in the four-part drama. The character of Ann, an ‘elegant Baroness’ meets Ian Fleming during the course of World War Two in an encounter that changes the course of the lives. Pulver’s other notable roles include Sherlock, Robin Hood and True Blood.

“I am thrilled to be playing Ann, a real life high society siren worthy of Fleming’s finest fictional femme fatales. In extraordinary times Ann had the ear of politicians as powerful as Churchill and counted artists like Lucian Freud among her friends, yet was consumed by a torrid romance with the great Ian Fleming; a twisted and passionate love that would last the rest of their lives.” – Lara Pulver

Actress Annabelle Wallis is also part of the cast of Fleming; she will play a character called Muriel. Wallis is perhaps best known for her portrayal of Jane Seymour opposite Jonathan Rhys-Meyers in Showtime’s historical drama The Tudors. Wallis also appeared in ABC’s short-lived 1960s airline drama Pan Am and Sky One drama series Strike Back.

Lesley Manville will play Ian Fleming’s mother Eve; the actress is known for a wide range of roles from appearances in Cranford, Law & Order UK, Poirot, North and South, Vera Drake, The Cazalets and playing Margaret Thatcher in Channel 4 docu-drama The Queen. The Hour actress Anna Chancellor, Cambridge Spies actor Samuel West and Hellboy’s actor Rupert Evans are also part of the cast.

Fleming is part of Sky’s drive to commission and broadcast more home-grown UK drama and comedy across its range of channels. Alongside Fleming the broadcaster has re-commissioned Mad Dogs, Mount Pleasant and Strike Back for new seasons and commissioned new shows such as Dracula, The Tunnel (a remake of The Bridge), Moonfleet, The Smoke and a new series of plays under the banner Reckless for Sky Living.
