Rita Ora and Will.i.am have picked their three finalists for The Voice live shows.
The knockout stage sees the coaches pick just three artists to take through to the live shows, which begin next week. On Saturday, newcomer Rita Ora whittled down her acts from eight to three as the competition to find ‘The Voice’ heated up.
Rita chose to take through Joe Woolford, Karis Thomas and Clark Carmody after impressing her with a song they’d chosen themselves to sing. This meant Rita sent home twins D Twinz, Mitch Miller, Shellyann, Hannah Wildes and Liss Jones. Teaching assistant Joe Woolford wowed Rita and her fellow coaches with a passionate performance of Outkast’s ‘Hey Ya’.
For Team Will, he picked Lucy O’Byrne, Sheena McHugh and Vikesh Champaneri for the live shows. His picks last night caused a few shocks as some of the favourites from the past auditions were sent home. Newtion Matthews, Jake Shakeshaft, Brooklyn and Ryan Green never made the cut. Esmee Denters, who previously had a music career having worked with Justin Timberlake, was also told she’d not be going through to the live shows.
On Sunday, Sir Tom Jones and Ricky Wilson will choose three acts from their teams to go through to next week’s live spectacular.
The Voice continues tonight at 7.45pm on BBC One.
