EastEnders Max says emotional goodbye to Tanya

EastEnders airs emotionally charged scenes tonight as Max Branning (Jake Wood) says a tearful goodbye to his ex-wife Tanya (Jo Joyner).

After discovering that his wife Kirsty (Kierston Wareing) has been fibbing about her pregnancy, Max turns to Tanya hoping they can rekindle their relationship. However, Tanya hits him with the bombshell that she is leaving Walford as a result of their daughter Lauren’s (Jacqueline Jossa) recent problems.

As Max begs Tanya to change her mind, she tries to make him understand that their relationship is toxic and that she is doing what’s best for the sake of their children. Gutted, Max is forced to accept her decision – but will he be able to keep the rest of his family together or will they decide to go with Tanya?

“As they say a tearful farewell to each other, the love between them is evident and it will never go away…” – BBC

Jo Joyner is leaving the BBC One soap after seven years in the role of Tanya. Speaking about her decision to bow out from the role, the actress said: “I have been very fortunate to have been part of some fantastic story lines over the years and I have worked with some wonderful people during my time on the show which I will always be very grateful for but I feel that as a mother and an actress it is time for me to explore some other avenues for a while.”

EastEnders airs tonight at 8.00pm on BBC One
