Britain’s Got Talent will have an spin off show this year – but it won’t be on ITV 2.
ITV has commissioned a new spin off show for Britain’s Got Talent which will air exclusively on the ITV Hub. Britain’s Got Talent: Unseen comprises of eight mini episodes which will air straight after the main show has finished broadcasting on ITV.
It promises to show more behind the scenes from the auditions screened on the main show as well as unseen footage and interviews with hosts Ant and Dec.
The announcement comes after ITV’s decision last year to axe Stephen Mulhern’s Britain’s Got More Talent, which aired on ITV 2. Mulhern recently spoke out about the decision to axe the long-running companion show.
“During these tough times we are determined to deliver entertainment all the family can enjoy. We are confident Britain’s Got Talent: Unseen will be perfect for that and the ideal accompaniment to the main series.” – Nigel Hall, Global Head Of TV, Syco Entertainment
ITV say that the ITV Hub is a “natural home” for Britain’s Got Talent:Unseen. The Hub currently has over 30 million subscribers, with Britain’s Got Talent being one of the most popular shows to catch up on.
The announcement comes as the nation is asked to stay at home to combat the continuing coronavirus pandemic. The coronavirus has led to the postponement of the live finales of Britain’s Got Talent which were due to air at the end of May.
The thirteenth series of Britain’s Got Talent returns to ITV on Saturday 11th April at 8.00pm. The spin off show will air immediately after on the ITV Hub.
