Over 1,000 fans had travelled to the game to watch Newcastle play against Bordeaux.

With their heads down the fans made their way back to Bordeaux airport to fly to Amsterdam and then on to Newcastle. Many had been diverted to the paris airport where adverse weather and fog caused many flight to be cancelled and leaving them stranded in the airport unable to get back home.
Snow fell across France and early today England became enveloped in thick fog.
“This morning I was due to get my flight out of Bordeaux to Amsterdam but the Amsterdam flight was cancelled because of bad weather conditions.
“I was diverted to Paris but missed the Newcastle connection because of the delay.
The guys at Paris Airport are clearing the runway of snow. There is bad weather in Amsterdam as well and on the departure board at Paris there are flights that have been cancelled to Aberdeen, Heathrow and Bristol.
The Met Office issued a severe weather warning this morning for regions including London and the South-East, the East and West Midlands, Yorkshire and Humber and the east of England. However by mid-morning the fog lifted.
Britain airports are experiencing disruption with cancelled flights from Amsterdam, Paris and Brussels.
At Newcastle Airport the KLM flight KL963 from Amsterdam, due in at 4.40pm today, was cancelled, while the 10.30am Brussels Airlines flight SN2187 from Brussels has also been cancelled.
