ITV’s award winning costume drama Downton Abbey continues to draw in viewers for the fourth series.
The second episode at 9.00pm was watched by an average 9.6 million viewers (incl. +1), peaking at 10.5 million viewers. This is up 100,000 from the first episode last week. Downton Abbey, which stars Dame Maggie Smith (pictured) as Dowager Countess of Grantham and Hugh Bonneville as the Earl of Grantham, has become a firm Sunday favourite for millions of viewers since its launch in 2010.
The X Factor bounced back from its thrashing on Saturday as the new boot camp format concluded. At 7.30pm an average of 9.5 million viewers tuned in, peaking 10.9 million. The show suffered at the hands of Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday – read more by clicking here.
Over on BBC One, drama By Any Means struggled to keep a hold of viewers it attracted just 3.4 million viewers at 9.00pm. Earlier in the evening Countryfile posted BBC’s top Sunday rating with 6.2 million viewers.
