Emmerdale bosses have unveiled a further two additions to the Barton family in the form of Ross Barton’s (Michael Parr) brothers Pete and Finn.
Ex-Hollyoaks star Anthony Quinlan has taken on the role of Pete while Joe Gill has signed up to play younger brother Finn.
They will join Ross and their father James (Bill Ward) in the village in upcoming storylines.
Viewers are already familiar with Ross who was initially introduced to the soap as Laurel Thomas’s (Charlotte Bellamy) carjacker over the Summer. However, a recent storyline twist revealed him to be the nephew of Moira Barton (Natalie J Robb).
Moira’s boyfriend Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) contacted Ross, a dodgy acquaintance, asking him to carry out a job for him but the job went wrong and an injured Ross later turned up at Butler’s farm. Since then Ross has been causing trouble in the village and has already lured Cain into a dodgy car scam.
Father of the trio – and brother of the late John (James Thornton) – James, has also made his first appearance in the soap. James recently turned up at Butler’s to see Ross and it was revealed the pair hadn’t seen each other for years.
With mounting debts and his farm crumbling James will soon make the tough decision to uproot his family to Emmerdale for a fresh start. After recently re-establishing contact with sister-in-law Moira, whom he has long-standing feelings for, he is forced into moving in with her family, with no other lifelines on offer.
But with hot-headed Cain and territorial son Adam (Adam Thomas) already in situ sparks are sure to fly. Can the newly increased Barton family find a way of living under one roof together?
James is a single parent who, for years, has concentrated on trying to keep his farm afloat with women and dating not on his radar.
The Barton boys are tremendous: feisty, strong willed, and a lot of fun to work with… I’ve thoroughly enjoyed the scenes we’ve had together thus far, and look forward to an awful lot more bad behaviour in the future… – Bill Ward
The eldest of the Barton boys Pete is following his father’s footsteps into farming. Pete is one of the good guys and his disapproval of his wayward brother Ross’ outrageous behaviour will lead to many an argument between them.
I’m really excited to be part of Emmerdale as it’s an iconic serial drama. I’m privileged to be working with such a great cast and crew on a fantastic production – Anthony Quinlan
Ross is the bad boy of the Barton family who has a complete lack of interest in farming. Ross decided a life of petty crime was an easier way to make a living.
I’m really enjoying playing Ross. It was tricky keeping the news quiet that I wasn’t just a bad man who car jacked Laurel, but one of the new Barton boys. Ross is a bad lad and great fun to play. – Michael Parr
Finn is the brainy Barton who arrives with a university education.
I’m very grateful to be given this opportunity. The cast and crew have been class with me so far and the fact I’m able to learn from these experienced professionals everyday is just brilliant. I’m hoping my character can contribute to how amazing the show is doing at the moment. – Joe Gill
