EastEnders continues to bounce back winning the night, latest overnight ratings data shows.
The BBC One soap attracted 7.8 million viewers (35.3%) on Tuesday as Max Branning (Jake Wood, pictured right) was found not guilty after Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt) failed to show up to court to give evidence against him. EastEnders has begun to rekindle interest after Michael Moon’s (Steve John Shepherd) murder on Halloween.
Tuesday’s episode was the most watched since April. The long running soap opera has struggled this year, regularly beaten by ITV’s Emmerdale. Dominic Treadwell-Collins replaced Lorraine Newman as executive producer earlier in the year. His work is expected to be shown from December.
Jake Wood tweeted to say Thursday’s episode is “very very good” as Max and Phil (Steve McFadden, pictured left) set out to get revenge on those who have crossed them. “Having seen Thursdays ep I can tell you it is very very good, don’t miss it #EastEnders #maxisback.”
Danny Dyer is expected to appear for the first time on the square on Christmas Day playing Mick Carter, brother to Shirley (Linda Henry). He will become the new landlord of the Queen Vic pub along with his family.
EastEnders airs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday on BBC One.
