Doctor WhoThe BBC has confirmed details of a live show celebrating 50 years of Doctor Who.

Zoe Ball and Rick Edwards will present Doctor Who Live: The Afterparty on BBC Three following BBC One’s transmission of The Day Of The Doctor.

Broadcast from London’s Southbank the show will feature the lowdown on The Day Of The Doctor, exclusive interviews and show-stopping monster moments, as well as gauging the reaction of fans of the sci-fi series across the globe to the milestone anniversary.

The 50th anniversary is going to be a huge party for Doctor Who and we’re delighted that BBC Three will be able to give the fans all the backstage access to the stars at the hottest ticket in town. Zai Bennett, Controller of BBC Three

Joining Ball and Edwards will be current doctor Matt Smith and some of the previous actors who have played the iconic Timelord and their time-travelling companions.

One Direction will also be joining the party as they gate-crash the show live from LA to wish the Doctor a happy birthday.

Doctor Who celebrates its 50th anniversary on November 23rd; The Day of the Doctor will air worldwide that night and will also be shown in cinemas. It has an extended running time of 75 minutes and has been written by the show’s Executive Producer Steven Moffatt.
