Abbey Clancy talks Strictly Come Dancing victory

Abbey Clancy has reflected on her time with the 2013 series of Strictly Come Dancing. The model was victorious in the BBC One series’ finale last month taking top spot ahead of actress Natalie Gumede and BBC Breakfast presenter Susanna Reid.

Despite winning Strictly Come Dancing, Abbey admitted nerves almost took over.

It was scary to be in a dance off…but I just took each week as it came and forgot about the week before, went into training and tried my best and tried to have as much fun without feeling sick because I was that nervous. It was terrifying…walking on to the dance floor and hearing your name be called is the worse moment!

I was gutted at the final because it meant it was over… It was amazing being around so many people who were so happy all the time… to be with all those people for so many months, it was just great, I’d never been so happy – it was a lovely feeling.

Speaking earlier today on ITV’s magazine series This Morning the 27-year-old looked ahead to re-joining the professional dancers and celebrities for the Strictly Arena Tour.

I’m excited because when in my life am I going to get to dance in front of ten or fifteen thousand people? It’s never going to happen so for that reason that why I wanted to do it most, and to keep the little Strictly bubble going a little bit longer… to get the gang back together will be fun!

During the run Clancy was partnered with professional dancer Aljaž Skorjane. The series finale saw 11.48 million viewers tune in.

This Morning airs weekdays at 10.30am on ITV, STV and UTV
