Channel 4 is to screen a documentary on the plight of Syrian children caught up in the country’s civil war.
Award winning photojournalist Marcel Mettelsifen makes his long-form documentary debut later this month with Children on the Frontline. Produced by ITN Productions, the film tells the story of five young children whose lives have been affected by the civil war.
Airing as part of Channel 4’s Dispatches strand, Marcel spent nine months filming to highlight the plight of the children. The ongoing civil war in the country has claimed the lives of over 11,000 children and over 1 million are now refugees.
Channel 4’s Current Affairs commissioning editor Siobhan Sinnerton, who commissioned Children on the Frontline said: “This is a truly remarkable film revealing what it’s really like to grow up within a war zone. Marcel has managed to capture the intimacy of family life within the turmoil with real compassion and insight.”
Children on the Frontline will air on Channel 4 on Wednesday 22 January at 10.00pm.
