The BBC One drama, which gained the biggest ever catch-up viewing audience figure this week, comes to an end on Sunday evening. Producer Sue Vertue has tweeted that ‘sometimes someone has to die’ leading to speculation of who may get the chop in the final episode.

Series three of Sherlock returned on New Year’s Day with a total 12.7 million viewers who tuned in to find out how Sherlock, played by Benedict Cumberbatch, faked his own death. Co-creator Steven Moffat said this week that series 4 and series 5 have been planned.
