Wil Johnson who plays Dom Andrews in Emmerdale is to leave the ITV soap later this year.
His exit from the soap will follow the death of his on-screen daughter Gemma (Tendai Rinomhota) following an altercation with her best friend Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper).
Daily Star Sunday reports that Johnson was given the option of staying on with the soap by producer Kate Oates but opted to leave after a year in the Dales.
Speaking to Daily Star Sunday, Wil said:“I’ve had a wonderful time playing Dom Andrews but, like with most things, you have to know when it’s time to leave the building, hopefully on a high note. I’m fortunate to be leaving the show off the back of a gripping storyline which I hope the audience will appreciate and have empathy for.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights at 7.00pm on ITV.
