Ofcom has dismissed more than 100 complaints from Coronation Street viewers about a recently-aired gay kiss in the saga.

Coronation Street - Todd and Marcus kiss

The broadcasting regulator has confirmed that it will not be investigating the show over the complaints, that refer to a topless kiss between the characters of Todd Grimshaw (Bruno Langley) and Marcus Dent (Charlie Condou).

“Ofcom can confirm that it is not investigating the scene in Coronation Street as it was not in breach of generally accepted standards. Our rules do not discriminate between scenes involving opposite sex and same sex couples.” – Ofcom

Ofcom notes that many of the complainants thought the topless smooch was ‘sexually suggestive’ and unsuitable for pre-watershed broadcast.

Coronation Street, Monday (7.30 and 8.30pm), Wednesday (7.30pm) and Friday (7.30 and 8.30pm), on ITV, STV and UTV.
