Keeley Hawes in Doctor WhoKeeley Hawes is to guest star in Doctor Who.

The actress – who is currently starring in BBC Two’s Line Of Duty – will appear in one episode of the long-running BBC sci-fi drama when it returns for its eighth series.

Hawes has taken on the role of ‘a powerful out-of-this-world character’ called Ms Delphox, whom the Doctor and his companion, Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) come face to face with on a strange and puzzling planet.

Hawes will portray the mysterious role in the fifth episode of the new series, written by Steve Thompson and due for transmission in the Autumn.

Anyone watching Jed Mercurio’s amazing Line Of Duty will know that Keeley Hawes is having one hell of year. And now it’s about to get even better as she achieves the greatest villainy yet attempted on Doctor Who: she plays a banker. – Lead Writer and Executive Producer, Steven Moffat

Filming is currently underway on the new series which will be Peter Capaldi’s first as the Doctor.
