BBC Drama The Honourable Woman sold to HBO

BBC drama The Honourable Woman is to air on HBO Nordics following a deal with the corporation’s worldwide sales division.

Featuring Hollywood star Maggie Gyllenhaal in her first TV role and acclaimed British actor Andrew Buchan, The Honourable Woman is a Drama Republic and Eight Rooks production for the BBC and co-produced with American channel Sundance TV.

“The Honourable Woman exemplifies the kind of high calibre production that BBC Worldwide has built a reputation for offering. To have already concluded a pre-sale shows how confident the market is in this hugely compelling drama” – Richard Hornsby-Smith, Director of Nordics, BBC Worldwide

The Honourable Woman tells the story of one woman’s personal journey to right the wrongs conducted in a past life. As a young girl, Nessa Stein witnessed the assassination of her father by the Palestinian Liberation Organisation. Now in her thirties, Nessa is at the forefront of the Middle East peace process. But when she awards a lucrative contract to a Palestinian businessman, who is later found dead, she finds herself under the close scrutiny of Whitehall and the Secret Intelligence Service.

HBO Nordics airs in Sweden, Finland, Norway and Denmark.
