Marc Warren has joined the cast of The Musketeers.
Filming is currently underway in Prague on the historical-action drama’s second series and Warren has been cast to play Rochefort, a dashing and persuasive aristocrat with a talent for sword fighting and a taste for adventure. The character has appeared in a number of Musketeers adaptions over the years.
“I’m delighted to be part of the BBC’s stylish and exciting take on the Dumas classic. Once I’ve overcome my fear of horses I’m sure it’ll be a walk in the park.” – Warren
Rochefort is nursing many secrets and a very dark past and is set to lure everyone around him into a sinister web, the BBC say.
Set on the streets of 17th-century Paris where law and order is more an idea than reality the series follows The Musketeers who are far more than King Louis XIII’s personal bodyguards, but ultimately stand resolutely for social justice: for honour, for valour, for love and for the thrill of it.
Series one premiered in January to an audience of over 7 million viewers with the BBC announcing a second series soon afterwards. However, by the end of series one the audience had fallen away with just 3.98m tuning in for the final episode.
