Produced by Reef Television, Penelope Keith’s Hidden Villages will follow the actress as she travels through some of the most spectacular landscapes that Britain has to offer, meeting people from rural communities and hearing their stories. Her aim is to discover whether Britain’s much-cherished villages are thriving or struggling to survive under the pressures of the 21st century.
“We are delighted to be working with Penelope Keith on this new series for More 4. Hidden Villages will be a delightful combination of stunning landscape, compelling stories and charming personal anecdotes from one of Britain’s best loved actresses.” – Managing Director of Reef Television, Richard Farmbrough
The programme will allow viewers an opportunity ‘to take stock’ of what rural communities mean to our nation at a time when social and economic pressures such as the rise in second homes and the loss of vital services threaten to erode this very British idyll.
Penelope, best known for her starring roles in BBC sitcoms The Good Life and To The Manor Born, has lived in a village in Surrey for the past 36 years.
Channel 4 say the programme is “coming soon”, however precise transmission details aren’t yet available.
