Channel 4 thas confirmed that former BBC journalist and Newsnight presenter Jeremy Paxman is to anchor the 2015 general election night coverage from Channel 4.

In 2010 Channel 4 won critical-acclaim and impressive ratings for its coverage of the General Election. Broadcast live, it attracted a 10.4% audience share – and outperformed ITV’s coverage. The programme also reached a huge number of young voters: 45% of its audience was aged 16 to 34, double that of BBC1 (22%) and ITV1 (17%).

Jeremy Paxman quit, in April this year, as host of BBC Two’s Newsnight after twenty five years in the role. He continues to host game show University Challenge for the broadcaster. Further details of Channel 4’s 2015 general election coverage will be announced in due course the network say.
