Kelly Rowland has revealed she would like to be a judge on the American version of the X Factor.
Rowland was a judge on the 8th series of the British version alongside Gary Barlow, Tulisa Contostavlos and Louis Walsh – the latter the only returning judge from previous outings of the production. According to news reports the former Destiny’s Child singer is now hoping to swap panels and join the American X Factor.
‘It would be awesome to be a judge over here for X Factor. I really enjoyed my time over in the UK being a judge, [it] was a great opportunity and a great experience, and I would love to do it again’ – Rowland quoted by CNN.
It was revealed earlier this month that judges Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger were leaving the X Factor along with Steve Jones as part of a revamp of the Fox version in a bid to boost ratings. There is currently speculation as to whom Simon Cowell will hire to replace the departed judges.
Kelly Rowland joined the ITV version of the X Factor for its 8th season last year but her time on the panel was plagued by reports of disputes between herself and fellow judges – especially Tulisa Contostavlos. Ratings for the 8th run were lower than previous years with it being beaten by Strictly Come Dancing on BBC One on several occasions.
The bad press and lower ratings have prompted reports of an impending shake-up in the judges panel with conflicting reports on who will report; some claim that Rowland has quit while others state she will be back for the 9th season later this year. A recent report suggested Simon Cowell had warned the judges that “no one” was safe in the revamp.
