‘Mrs Brown’s Boys‘ star Jennifer Gibney and her partner Tristan McManus found themselves in the bottom two for second time. They faced the dance off with pop star Simon Webbe and his professional partner Kristina Rihanoff.
“Before this, I didn’t know how to dance. I wanted to learn how to dance and I now know how to jive, how to waltz and how to foxtrot, however badly! I’ve learned three dances and I’ve had a great time with Tristan. He is one of the family and he will remain one of the family.” – Jennifer Gibney
In the Strictly ‘movie week’ special, the fourteen couples each performed routines inspired by some of the greatest films of all time in a bid to impress the viewers at home – as well as judges Len Goodman, Darcey Bussell, Bruno Tonioli & Craig Revel Horwood in the studio.
The judges’ scores were combined with the results of the viewers’ votes to decide the lowest scoring two couples facing the dance off.
Both couples then performed their routines again; Simon and Kristina danced their rumba to ‘Take My Breath Away’ from Top Gun and Jennifer and Tristan performed their foxtrot to ‘Mamma Mia’, from the movie of the same name, in a bid to impress the judges and remain in the competition.
After both couples had danced a second time the judges delivered their verdicts: Craig chose to save Simon and Kristina.
Darcey chose to save Simon and Kristina, saying: “I think both couples upped their game 100% tonight but the couple I’d like to save is Simon and Kristina”.
And guest judge Donny Osmond also chose to save Simon and Kristina, meaning that they were safely through to next week. He said: “I congratulate both couples. You really committed to this last dance but the one that I would like to see go through is Simon and Kristina.”
Bruno said he would have saved Simon and Kristina: “I agree with my fellow judges. Simon and Kristina had the edge.”
And Head Judge Len Goodman also agreed that he would have saved Simon and Kristina.
Next week’s show will air on Saturday 18th October at 6.30pm, with the results show on Sunday 19th October at 7.20pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
