ABC has boosted the number of episodes it has ordered for several shows including Grey’s Anatomy and Once Upon A Time.
The broadcaster has handed additional episode orders to a range of shows across its programming. All of ABC’s Wednesday evening comedies have been handed two additional episodes for the respective seasons. The order means Modern Family, The Middle, The Goldbergs and Black-ish will run to 24 episodes.
Fantasy drama Once Upon A Time is getting an extended episode; the shows’ 8th episode will be a two-hour event. The dramas’ creators revealed the news earlier today and were keen to reassure fans the extended episode would not be a recap – it really will run for 2 hours. The 8th episode, Smash the Mirror, will air during the crucial November sweeps. The extra hour means technically Once Upon A Time will run to 23 episodes for its current fourth season.
Shonda Rhimes’ veteran medical drama Grey’s Anatomy has also been handed two more episodes meaning its 11th season will run to 24 episodes and the ever popular Castle, starring Nathan Fillion, will also run to 24 episodes in its seventh season.
