Pop star Pixie Lott has become the tenth celebrity to leave Strictly Come Dancing.
Last night’s quarter final saw the six remaining couples participate in a waltz-athon, in addition to the dance they had been perfecting since the previous weekend, to earn all-important extra marks from the judges.
The judges’ overall scores were combined with the viewers’ votes to determine the lowest scoring two couples facing tonight’s dance off – which Pixie and her partner Trent Whiddon found themselves in alongside boy band member Simon Webbe and Kristina Rihanoff.
In an attempt to secure their place in the competition, each couple performed their routine from Saturday again with Pixie and Trent doing the Cha Cha Cha to the Glee Cast version of Love Shack, and Simon and Kristina performing an American Smooth to Heartache Tonight.
Once both couples had danced for survival the judges delivered their verdicts with Craig Revel Horwood and Bruno Tonioli choosing to save Pixie and Trent. Darcey Bussell opted to save Simon and Kristina, with head judge Len Goodman following suit in a casting vote.
“I was absolutely loving it, I had the best time ever. I am sad that I won’t get to learn the Salsa and the American Smooth next week. I have honestly loved this experience so much and I am so pleased that I decided to do it. I couldn’t have asked for a better dance partner – honestly, Trent, you have been amazing. I have learnt so much and I am so grateful for it.” – Pixie
Tonight’s results show also featured a special performance from American band OneRepublic.
Strictly Come Dancing returns next Saturday, 13 December at 6.50pm, with the results show on Sunday 14th December at 7.20pm on BBC One and BBC One HD.
