Ben Haenow is on track to be number one in the UK Singles Chart on Sunday.
Haenow released ‘Something I Need’ on Sunday after winning the X Factor. Through downloads only so far, an impressive 75,000 copies have been bought. A physical copy of Ben’s single is available in shops on Wednesday.
If Ben Haenow manages to get the number one position on Sunday, it will mean he has the coveted 2014 Christmas Number one single. He faces competition from current number one holder Mark Ronson ft Bruno Mars with ‘Uptown Funk’.
‘Uptown Funk’ was released a month early after X Factor runner-up Fleur East performed the catchy song during the X Factor semi-finals show. Her version reached number one on iTunes but is not eligible to feature on the Official Charts.
“The week of the Christmas Number 1 race is always among the most exciting in the Official Singles Chart calendar – and early data indicates that we have a genuine battle on our hands in 2014. By Sunday, we will know who has won out – but, for the moment, the race is on!” – Martin Talbot, Official Charts Company Chief Executive
The Christmas chart will be announced on Sunday.
