Caroline Flack and her professional partner Pasha Kovalev have been crowned champions of Strictly Come Dancing 2014.
The duo triumphed over Frankie Bridge & Kevin Clifton and Simon Webbe & Kristina Rihanoff to take home the glitterball trophy in tonight’s grand final. Mark Wright & Karen Hauer finished in fourth place earlier in the show.
“This has been the best experience of my life mostly because of pasha but also because of all the brilliant contestants. They have all been so supportive. They are the most lovely bunch of people.
“This has been a complete bonding experience for everybody and it’s been so lovely. Thank you so much [to the public] for voting as well.” – Caroline Flack
In the first of two live shows this evening the finalists performed a routine chosen by the judges, before returning to the floor with a no rules, no-holds-barred show dance.
Caroline and Pasha’s judge’s choice was the Cha Cha Cha to Can You Feel It?, while their show dance was to Beverley Knight’s version of Angels. Frankie and Kevin performed the Samba to La Bamba for the judges and a show dance to Get Happy by Judy Garland.
Simon and Kristina had the judge’s choice of the Charleston to My Old Man Said Follow the Van, while their show dance was to Elvis Presley’s A Little Less Conversation. Mark and Karen danced the Cha Cha Cha to I’m Your Man for the judges, before performing their show dance to Don’t Stop Me Now.
Mark was eliminated at the start of the second live show with the three remaining couples going on to perform their favourite dance of the series.
Frankie and Kevin opted for their Paso Doble to America from Movie Week, Caroline and Pasha chose their Charleston to Istanbul (Not Constantinople) from Around The World week, while Simon and Kristina revisited their Argentine Tango to Roxanne from Blackpool week.
Tonight’s final show also featured Take That who performed a medley of their hits, while the Strictly Class of 2014 took to the floor for one last dance.
The result was then announced with an emotional Caroline lifting the glitterball trophy with Pasha.
“Strictly is a big family, every year you learn that, and I’m glad Caroline experienced that. I could not imagine a better partner. Thank you so much.” – Pasha Kovalev
Strictly Come Dancing will return to BBC One on Christmas Day when six former contestants take to the dance floor in a one off special.
