Veteran actress June Whitfield is making a guest appearance in BBC One’s EastEnders.
The Absolutely Fabulous star will appear in a single edition of the soap in May as part of a storyline that delves into the past of fan favourite Kat Moon (Jessie Wallace).
“I have watched EastEnders for years, and have been so impressed by the standard of acting. It was an absolute delight to work with Jessie Wallace and I am very excited to be part of the show.” – June Whitfield
It has also been announced that Jan Harvey, best known for her roles as Jan Howard in Howards’ Way and Babs Woods in Family Affairs, is to guest star in the Walford saga. She will feature in an upcoming storyline involving Sharon Mitchell (Letitia Dean).
“I loved working on such an iconic show. Everyone was so welcoming. EastEnders is really like one big family.” – Jan Harvey
Show chiefs are remaining tight-lipped over exactly who the actresses are playing to prevent the storylines from being spoilt for the viewers.
Executive Producer, Dominic Treadwell-Collins commented: “We are extremely privileged to have two British television legends joining us for guest roles as Albert Square heads into the Spring. Both June and Jan are class acts, bringing warmth and humanity to two characters who will shed some light on the pasts of two of our most iconic women – Sharon Mitchell and Kat Moon – changing both their lives in very different ways…”
EastEnders airs Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday on BBC One.
