Simon Cowell looks set to be the only judge to return to ITV’s X Factor as the show faces a new shake-up.
It was reported over the weekend that show bosses are looking at changing the judging panel after the show continued to lose out in the ratings battle with Strictly Come Dancing last series.
Despite the return of Simon Cowell and Cheryl Fernandez-Versini, the show remained firmly behind the Beeb dancing show. The Mirror now reports that Cowell is the only ‘confirmed’ judge to be returning, which could see Cheryl, Mel B and the long-serving judge Louis Walsh being axed.
X Factor Executive Producer Richard Holloway said: “There will be some exciting changes. The name of the show will stay the same but we are looking at format and the judges.” He added that there will be a number of surprises this year, which the team are currently keeping tight-lipped about.
The last series of X Factor, won by Ben Haenow, witnessed the return of Simon and Cheryl after a three year hiatus. They were joined by new recruit, Mel B, who is no stranger to the format having previously judged the Australian version.
