Filming on the first X Factor auditions for this year’s series has gotten underway today (8 July) in Manchester..
It was originally due to commence on Monday but was postponed due to the death of Simon Cowell’s mother, Julie Brett, with official ticket vendor Applause Store noting:
“We are so sorry – but due to unforeseen circumstances tomorrow’s (Monday) @TheXFactor Manchester auditions have been cancelled….”
Cowell is in Manchester where the all new X Factor judging line-up is getting its first outing, with Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and new judges Rita Ora and Nick Grimshaw joining him on the panel. Rita Ora joins the ITV show after a year as a coach on BBC’s The Voice UK while Radio 1 DJ Grimshaw replaces Louis Walsh, who had been with the show since it first aired in 2004.
Olly Murs has tweeted a picture of him and Caroline Flack from 2011 when they first presented the spin-off show Xtra Factor in 2011. They return this year as the hosts of the main show, replacing Dermot O’Leary, who was reportedly axed as bosses aim to bring in a younger audience. Auditions will continue this month with more hopefuls taking to the stage in Manchester and in London at Wembley Arena.
