Details are to be released tomorrow concerning the new-look Channel 5, which will be launched next month.
There will be changes to Five News and a new logo for the entire network which we revealed months before pay-to-view Broadcast published them.
The speculation that Five will become Channel 5 again on February 14th, Valentine’s Day, has been mooted online for several weeks, this will be confirmed or denyed tomorrow when details of the new look Channel 5 News broadcasts are to be released.
Channel 5 launched in 1997, it was deemed slightly downmarket and tabloid trashy; an image which remained until 2002 when the broadcaster underwent a re-launch as Five. The change was deemed to also improve content with more upmarket programming and imported drama being pushed to the forefront of the schedules.
Five also increased its teenage audience when it first poached Australian soap Home and Away from ITV and more recently Neighbours from BBC One.
Over the years the channel has been home to a fair share of mildly popular programmes especially commissioned for the network, including Open House with Gloria Hunniford, 100%, House Doctor, Family Affairs and Hotel Inspector.
The new-look Channel 5 News will continue to be produced by Sky News, however presenter details are not to be revealed until tomorrow. The changes taking place at Five have been brought about by new owner Richard Desmond.
