ATV Reports: The Morning Wire September 20th

Start your day with the The Morning Wire, ATV Today’s very own live breakfast blog with Shaun Linden. Last Update: 09:54:

09:54: That is that. Thank you very much for joining me this morning on our second week. I will be back tomorrow at the same time from 8am. I’m now off to get some toast! You can keep up to date with the latest by following ATV Today @atvnetworktoday

09:45: The Morning Wire would not be complete if we don’t mention Australian TV Ratings. Junior MasterChef continues to dominate, attracting 1.75million to Network TEN on Sunday. The X Factor on Seven drew 1.10million at the same time. On ABC1, Grandma’s favourite Midsomer Murders pulled in 1.35million viewers at 8.30pm

09:35: Highlight Word on the Web

We finish Word on the Web this morning with an insight to being one of the ‘Vat Pack’. The Pope was here for four days, unless you’ve been living on Mars, and with him were a dedicated group of journalists. The Media Guardian has the story.

Even we reported on the Pope, and i can reveal they have been some our most read articles of the past week! Pope Protest and Pope Arrives.

09:25: Regular readers will know we had some teething problems in our first week, but as we start the second week, touch wood –things seem to running more smoothly (famous last words). Saturday saw the first ‘Buzz’ magazine from The Sun, replacing the TV Mag. It still had TV listings and TV selections, but also included lifestyle and celebrity. MUCH better than its predecessor and included a double page spread of the Inbetweeners – what more could a fan ask for?!

09:20: Hahahahahahaha, shouldn’t laugh but i’m reading The Sun online, and the story that Katie Price refused to be filmed for BBC show ‘Traffic Cops’, after she was pulled over. It later transpired that the star had no insurance, according to The Sun. You can read the article by clicking here, and Traffic Cops airs tonight at 10.35pm on BBC One.

09:10: Word on the Web

Now it may not have been a hit ratings wise, but Sky’s Must Be The Music hit the headlines when the contestants own songs, written and composed by them were making it into the iTunes Top 10 within hours of being live on air. The finale was last, and BBC News online has the story.

Lord Ashcroft, a name you might be familiar with claims the Tories did not win an outright majority in the general election due to the TV debates – The Independent

And tonight is a big night in America, with many shows making their ‘Fall’ premiers. The Washington Post has a rundown of the shows, including the remake of ‘Hawaii Five-O’

09:00: Good morning it is 9am, half way through The Morning Wire, 1 hour until i get some breakfast (no bacon so I’ll have to make do with toast). Alexandra Burke stays at Number 1 in the Official UK Singles Chart with her catchy tune ‘Start Without You’ and if not to boost his ego even further, Simon Cowell is to receive a prestigious Rose d’Or award.

08:55: Our soap picture of the day this morning is from Coronation Street, with Sian and Sophie hand in hand.

08:45: A quick flick through the TV this morning and Mark Longhurst is filling in for Eamonn Holmes. Mark is the main host for Sunrise on Fri – Sun. Lorraine has 60s pop star Sandi Shaw and BBC Breakfast talking tigers.

Our soap picture of the day is coming up at 08:55 and features a popular runaway couple, can you guess who?

08:35: Some soap gossip now and as you would have seen at the end of EastEnders on Friday, Kat Moon (Slater as we she will always be known) is back in Walford to wreak havoc on the square. This week we learn what she has been up to and her trouble with Alfie.

In Hollyoaks this week an emotional time as Steph prepares to marry Gilly as her cancer continues to cause her problems and in Neighbours the fallout from Steph’s secrets is still causing problems on the street, with Callum taking to the airwaves to vent his anger.

08:27: Tonight’s TV Pick is Dispatches, as Sam Kiley, a veteran war correspondent investigates the MoD regarding whether soldiers are getting value for money as the MoD waste money each year.

08:20: Myleene Klass announced on twitter yesterday that she is pregnant, congratulations to her. Many presenters jumping for joy this morning as it means they now have a chance to be the No.1 Stand-In Presenter.

On TV tonight we have The Inbetweeners – YES! The second episode of the new series and it seems to have captured a whole new audience, posting its best ever figures last week, over 2million viewers. Catch the latest at 10pm on E4.

Also can you believe this only the second week of The Morning Wire, feels like we’ve been going forever.

08:15: Word on the Web

Our first look around the web this morning and we stop first to the Media Guardian, and links local TV and Top Gear, intrigued? Click Here.

Daily Star and sex wars between Big Brother favourites Chantelle and Josie. The Atlanta Post has a guide to how to buy advertising on a budget. Quite a mix i think this morning!

08:05: The main news on the breakfast shows this morning is the news that British troops are leaving Sangin in Afghanistan, Ricky Hatton speaks candidly and exclusively to ITV’s Daybreak and the latest from the Lib Dem Party Conference.

On ATV Today over the weekend we brought you the Stefan Dennis interview, Exclusive info on new C4 show and our poll over the past week – should ITV bring back GMTV, in which the results are in this morning.

Jeeves has 10 unanswerable questions and wants you to submit your answers to him. This is to coincide with the 10th birthday of Ask Jeeves. Click Here

08:00: A very good morning to you and welcome to The Morning Wire. Did you see The X Factor last night? Loved having it on a Sunday evening because yesterday was quite dull, outside and on TV. Next week, the boot camp looks AMAZING!

Keeping it X Factor related for just a moment (big fan, can you tell?), last years winner Joe McElderry’s new single got its first play yesterday, it’s called Ambitions and you can listen to it by clicking here. It’s different from what i was expecting but i think this will suit him.

On with the morning news, the Pope has gone home after his four day visit. Sighs of relief from some maybe as the news, as you would expect has been saturated with coverage.
