Netflix has revealed the launch date for their festive special fronted by comedian Bill Murray and his celebrity friends who are gate crashing the season of goodwill in A Very Murray Christmas.
Announced in May this year the show will pay homage to the classic variety shows of yesteryear such as the ATV Elstree produced Bing Crosby’s Merry Olde Christmas of 1977 and other such festive offerings over the years ranging from Judy Garland stateside to Val Doonican on UK television.
The star-studded cast also includes George Clooney, Paul Shaffer, Amy Poehler, Julie White, Dimitri Dimitrov, Michael Cera, Chris Rock, David Johansen, Maya Rudolph, Jason Schwartzman, Jenny Lewis, Phoenix’s Thomas Croquet, Christian Mazzalai and Laurent Mazzalai, Frederic Moulin, Rashida Jones, Miley Cyrus, and more.
Written by Sofia Coppola, Bill Murray and Mitch Glazer and directed by Sofia Coppola, A Very Murray Christmas features Bill Murray playing himself, as he worries no one will show up to his TV show due to a terrible snow storm in New York City. Through luck and perseverance, guests arrive at the Carlyle hotel to help him; dancing and singing in holiday spirit.
On Friday, December 4th, Netflix will debut A Very Murray Christmas in all territories where Netflix is available.
