Lady C talks I’m A Celebrity after withdrawing on medical grounds

Lady Colin Campbell has spoken about her participation in I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in the wake of her withdrawal from the ITV reality series.

ITV announced earlier today (2 December) that the strong-willed Royal biographer had left the jungle on unspecified medical grounds.

Speaking whilst en route to the luxury Versace hotel and from the hotel itself, in an interview broadcast on tonight’s show, she said: “I have been under medical supervision. It feels absolutely wonderful to be out and in civilisation again. It was not the experience I was expecting in any way, shape or form. In many ways it was far more pleasurable and pleasant.”

Lady C went on to note that she was unsurprised by the public’s appetite to see her take on trials.

“I was nominated for the first trial with Jorgie which came as no surprise to me because I was obviously the grandest person in the camp we know that the British public are obsessed with class. I rather enjoyed it [the trial].”

She went on to address her rows with Tony Hadley and Duncan Bannatyne, citing the attention she was getting as a source of bad feeling in camp. “After it became apparent I was getting all of the attention it caused a tremendous amount of bad feeling in the camp and then it became increasingly difficult.  Tony’s refusal (to be chambermaid) became personal because I was a Lady with a capital L. Had I been asked to be chambermaid, of course I would have done it, I am a sport. And I don’t have a chip on my shoulder.”

“I think there were so many arguments because Duncan and Tony had taken the decision to shut me up, shut me down and run me out of the camp.” – Lady C

She added of her camp allies Kieron and Chris, “Kieron and Chris were wonderfully supportive, they showed themselves to be true gentlemen and I would hope we remain lifelong friends,” Lady C also dismissed any chance of making up with Tony and Duncan, “There is no prospect of me ever having Tony or Duncan in my life in any way, shape or form. They have earned my disregard…they will have to live with it.”

Earlier today her agent Mike Hollingsworth told This Morning of her departure: “The official statement is she’s left due to a medical condition. I know that she suffered a fall in the jungle camp and because of that viewers will have seen that she has been using a special chair to sit on for a little while, and that has clearly gotten worse.

“I have spoken to her and she is sad to be out. I think the medical condition might have been exacerbated by a certain amount of bullying she has been receiving by two particular campmates.”

I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! continues tomorrow at 8.30pm on ITV
