City television station Made In Tyne and Wear is celebrating being regcognised by the Prolific North Awards following some of the regional output being nominated up against programmes produced by ITV at multi-million pound production centres such as the Salford Studios.
“I’m incredibly proud of my team and the network for being recognised alongside such amazing industry talent. We knew ‘Made on the Dancefloor’ would break new ground and to be acknowledged for this and all the hard work put in by all those involved, is just fantastic.” – Tony Hazell, Station Manager for Made in Tyne & Wear
It’s a tale of David and Goliath proportions: Local TV station up against huge production houses including ITV Studios, in the category for Best Entertainment Programme, at the prestigious 2016 Prolific North Awards.
The result however was a sweet victory for Made in Tyne & Wear when they were acknowledged in a rarely bestowed Highly Commended award in the category, with only the ITV Studios Coronation Street Live Access All Areas nomination pipping them to the post as category winner.
Made in Tyne & Wear’s entry for the ground breaking, ‘Made on the Dancefloor‘ series which included same sex couples competing in the TV dance competition, were shortlisted against five other nominations, including: ITV Studios’ ‘Coronation Live Access All Areas’; ITV Studios’ ‘The Big Quiz Coronation Street Vs Emmerdale’; ITV Studios’ ‘Fearne & Gok Off The Rails‘; ITV Studios’ ‘Coronation Street Live Uncovered‘ and Blakeway North’s ‘Michael Jackson’s Thriller with Ashley Banjo’.
Made in Tyne & Wear’s sister station, Made in Leeds were also shortlisted at The Prolific North Awards in the Best News Programme category for their coverage of the Boxing Day Yorkshire floods.
Made in Tyne & Wear is part of the Made Television Network and broadcasts 24 hours a day on Sky Guide 117, Freeview 7 and Virgin 159.
