Channel 5 has announced that presenter, journalist and consumer champion Matt Allwright, best known as host of BBC One’s Rogue Trader’s, is to replace Matt Barbet on their weekly magazine series, The Saturday Show.
“I loved coming on The Saturday Show as a guest so much so that I hid in the studios for a few weeks, disguised as a security guard, until the chance came along to present it. It’s a great show and I can’t wait to work with Gaby, a genuine TV goddess.” – Matt Allwright
Allwright will be joining current co-host Gaby Roslin on the popular entertainment and lifestyle series from the 9th of July, this exciting new presenting team will be joined by celebrity guests live every Saturday as they kick off the weekend in style.
Matt, Gaby and their guests will take a look at the top stories of the day, catch up on the past week and look forward to the week ahead. The duo will also take a look at the latest film releases and television hits, the week’s top viral videos, meet the people at the heart of the headlines and take a look at upcoming events. Plus, the country’s top lifestyle and consumer experts are on hand with plenty of advice and inspiration.
News, facts, fun and food, plus lifestyle features, gripping stories, celebrity gossip and topical debate. TV, film and events – The Saturday Show Live has all the inspiration viewers need for the weekend, Channel 5 say. Both highly experienced, it’s the second time Matt and Gaby have presented together after appearing on Food Inspectors on BBC One.
The live two-hour magazine show launched in October last year with Matt Barbet excited at the weekend project,
“It’s very exciting! I grew up watching all kinds of Saturday morning TV. I can even remember Noel Edmond’s Multi-Coloured Swap Shop! Being live on a Saturday morning, that slot has a certain amount of history and prestige. It helps to kick off people’s weekends and hopefully they’re a bit more relaxed rather than stressing out about the next day’s work or school.” – Matt Barbet
The Saturday Show is produced by Princess Productions, part of Endemol Shine UK.
