The new Cold Feet title track has been written by Guy Garvey and Peter Jobson.
ITV has confirmed that Elbow frontman, Guy Garvey, and Peter Jobson, from legendary Manchester band I AM KLOOT, have written the title track for the new series of Cold Feet.
Producers approached Guy and Peter earlier this year after Cold Feet star, James Nesbitt personally asked Guy and Peter on Radio 2’s The Chris Evans’ Show to write a track for the new series. Guy sings the lead vocal on the title track he and Peter wrote together called ‘The Rover Returns’.
“We’re thrilled and flattered that these two iconic sons of Manchester wanted to write and perform an original song to mark the return of Cold Feet. Amazing music has always been part the show’s DNA and it’s great to give a nod to the rich musical heritage of Manchester with Guy and Pete’s beautiful new composition.” – Exec producer, Kenton Allen
Created and written by Mike Bullen the new series is expected to air this autumn on ITV. The broadcaster announced in November 2015 that the BAFTA winning comedy drama was to return to screens after a thirteen year absence.
How has Adam coped without his soulmate Rachel – who died in the last episode – raising their son on his own? Do Pete and Jenny still spend their evenings on the sofa, except now they watch Endeavour instead of Morse? And what of David and Karen? They’d split up, but with three children between them, are the ties that bind still strong?
When we saw them last, our heroes were on the cusp of change, growing up and settling down. They’d hoped that by the time they were approaching 50, life would be simpler. Well, now they’re there, to discover that it isn’t. The issues they face are different but just as challenging. They still have many years to live, but can’t escape the niggling fear that their futures are behind them.
“This feels like the right time to revisit these characters, as they tip-toe through the minefield of middle age. They’re 50, but still feel 30, apart from on the morning after the night before, when they really feel their age. They’ve still got lots of life to look forward to, though they’re not necessarily the years one looks forward to!” – Creator of Cold Feet, Mike Bullen
