Danny Mac is the seventh celebrity confirmed ahead of Strictly Come Dancing‘s return to BBC One.
The actor’s involvement was confirmed today (16 August) on the official BBC Strictly Twitter and Facebook feeds.
“I’m as terrified as I am excited! I’ve done a few bits and bobs of secret filming for the show and it’s all become very real now. I can’t believe that I am now part of the biggest show on television and I cannot wait to get started.” – Danny Mac
Following a number of roles in his childhood and teenage years, Danny starred in the multi-award winning West End production of Wicked for four years, performing in the ensemble and as the understudy for Boq, one of the lead male characters.
In 2011 he joined the cast of Hollyoaks as Mark ‘Dodger’ Savage whose complicated love life saw him often at the centre of drama in the Channel 4 saga. He quit the soap almost four years later to pursue new projects. Danny performed CeeLo Green’s Forget You alongside his Hollyoaks co-stars Stephanie Davis, Andrew Moss and Abi Phillips as part of the BBC Children in Need television broadcast in 2011.
Other names announced for this year’s series of Strictly are Ed Balls, Will Young, Laura Whitmore, Ore Oduba, Melvin Odoom and Louise Redknapp.
