John Bishop, Robin Weigert, Jonathan Forbes and Wunmi Mosaku are also to appear in the drama production.
“Michael Gambon is a legend, one of the UK’s finest actors, and it’s a real thrill for us that he will be joining the brilliant Helen McCrory in Fearless. The range and depth of the cast that director Pete Travis has assembled is testament to Patrick Harbinson’s wonderful scripts, following Emma Banville as she risks everything in her quest for the truth.” – Executive Producer and Mammoth Screen’s Managing Director, Damien Timmer
As filming begins on Mammoth Screen’s legal conspiracy thriller, Fearless, ITV has announced that Gosford Park actor Sir Michael Gambon will star alongside acclaimed lead actress, Helen McCrory, in the six part drama.
Actor and comedian John Bishop also joins the cast, along with Emmy nominee Robin Weigert, Jonathan Forbes, Wunmi Mosaku and Jamie Bamber. The brand new series follows Emma Banville (McCrory), a solicitor known for defending lost causes, as she investigates the killing of a schoolgirl in East Anglia and tries to free the man she thinks was wrongly convicted of the girl’s murder. However, as she digs ever deeper into the case, she begins to sense powerful forces, in the police and the intelligence services at home and abroad, who want to stop her uncovering the truth.
Written by Homeland scribe and executive producer Patrick Harbinson, Fearless is produced by leading independent programme makers, Mammoth Screen, whose portfolio includes Victoria starring Jenna Coleman for ITV, popular crime series Endeavour also for ITV, the critically-praised mini series And Then There Were None and BBC drama hit Poldark.
“Emma Banville is the kind of character who hates to back down. Against all the odds she’s driven by the unfolding mystery of that 2003 murder and whether the killer was unjustly convicted. Fearless is a complex, taut thriller and we’re delighted to be commissioning the series from Mammoth Screen.” – Fearless has been commissioned for ITV by Controller of Drama Victoria Fea
