Michelle Keegan is to reprise her role of army medic Georgie Lane in a third series of Our Girl.
“I’m so happy that we’ll be back for another series as I think there’s definitely more stories to tell with Georgie. The reaction to the show has been overwhelming and I’m really thankful to everyone who’s watched and supported it. It was an amazing experience filming with such an incredible group of people and I can’t wait to do it all over again.”- Michelle Keegan
The BBC One drama’s second five-part series concluded last night as Georgie decided not to go through with marrying Jamie (Royce Pierreson), and opted for a return to Nufula and the Kenyan refugee camp over a reconciliation with first love Elvis (Luke Pasqualino).
Lacey Turner as Molly Dawes in the first series of Our Girl
EastEnders actress Lacey Turner starred in the first series, which saw storylines set in Afghanistan, and a preluding single episode as medic Molly Dawes in 2013 and 2014. Series two was set in Kenya, Radio Times quotes writer Tony Grounds who notes a location for the third series is yet to be decided upon.
“I’m doing the research at the moment so I haven’t put my finger on the globe yet… I’m going to be looking where the natural disasters are and where the British army’s involved so I haven’t 100% chosen the place.” – Tony Grounds
Grounds also refused to rule out a return for Jamie and Elvis.
Of a possible return for Turner as Molly, Grounds noted: “If she ever wanted to do it she’s only got to ring me up – she knows that. I think it’s all about logistics. I don’t know how EastEnders works and we’re invariably filming abroad. But I love that Molly Dawes character.”
