X Factor judge Cheryl Cole has defended her decision to put through Cher Lloyd to the live shows instead of Gamu Nhengu. On Sunday evening’s edition of The X Factor the four judges – Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh, Dannnii Minogue and Cheryl Cole – made their decisions about which acts to put through to the live shows which begin next week.
Amongst the acts turned down for the live shows were Diva Fever by Simon Cowell and and Treyc Cohen by Cheryl Cole.
Cole decided to put through Cher Lloyd and Katie Waissell over singer Gamu Nhengu even though she had performed perfectly while the other two both experienced problems during their experience.
Lloyd was unable to finish her song in front of Cheryl while Waissel broke down in tears during her performance. The decision by Cole not to put through Gamu Nhengu to the live shows has prompted an angry reaction from fans by the judge has defended her decision.
“Cher fell apart but when I go back to when I first saw her I was buzzing. I got a real buzz, a real buzz. Then when I watched her at boot camp she was amazing so I have to remember that actually she was poorly.” I’m not making excuses for her, because you have to perform when you’re poorly when you become an artist, but they’re under so much pressure, under themselves, you have to take everything into consideration, so Cher was that for me.” – Cheryl Cole quoted in The Sun
Thousands of X Factor fans have protested against the Cole’s decision with furious posts on Facebook, Twitter, Digital Spy and ATV Today. However, producers are promising a ‘big twist’ for Saturday’s first live show which is expected to be the return of several acts competing for one final space in the Live Shows.
However, fans will have to wait until The X Factor on Saturday to see if their speculation is correct or not.
