ITV and the BBC join forces to launch an unrivalled digital catalogue of British content under one Ad-free subscription service for American television viewers.

The service will feature stateside premieres of dramas like New Blood and In the Dark, historical dramas Tutankhamun and The Moonstone, as well as series premieres of drama favourites Cold Feet and Silent Witness.
A special “Now” category of service will offer UK sagas EastEnders, Emmerdale and Holby City as soon as 24 hours after UK broadcast. The venture has been launched by BBC Worldwide, the commercial arm of the BBC, and ITV, the UK’s biggest commercial broadcaster. The service aims to launch in early 2017. AMC Networks, which has a joint venture with BBC Worldwide for cable channel BBC America, is also investing in BritBox with a non-voting minority interest. BBC Worldwide and ITV share an equal majority stake in the joint venture.
The unique streaming service aims to celebrate the very best of British telly, and offer the most comprehensive SVOD collection of British content in the market today. For decades, BBC and ITV have produced iconic British television series, and for the first time these shows will be combined in a single, curated service allowing fans to find the classic shows they love and discover new hit series.
As well as recent content viewers in the USA will be able to access a British classics collection from ITV and its former regional production companies networked output as well as iconic productions from the beeb including period dramas Brideshead Revisited, Pride and Prejudice, and Upstairs Downstairs; political thriller State of Play; murder mystery series Inspector Morse and Rosemary and Thyme; favourite sitcoms Keeping Up Appearances and Fawlty Towers to name only a few.
BritBox will be available on responsive web, mobile (iOS and Android), Roku, AppleTV, and Chromecast at launch stateside. There is also ambition to roll out the service in other international markets. Pricing for the service will be available at launch.
