Melvin Odoom is the winner of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing Christmas Special.

The radio and TV host lifted the Silver Star trophy with his professional partner Janette Manrara after their Charleston to ‘SparklejollyTwinklejingley (inspired by the movie Elf) scored a perfect 40 from the judges. The winner was determined via combination of the judges scores and votes from the studio audience.

Six celebrities from previous series returned to the ball room for this year’s festive special overseen by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman. The full line-up consisted of Olympian and presenter, Denise Lewis, Pop star, Frankie Bridge, Writer and actress, Pamela Stephenson, Celebrity chef, Ainsley Harriott, TV presenter, Gethin Jones, Radio and TV host, Melvin Odoom.

This year’s Christmas special went to the movies as couples performed dances inspired by festive favourite films including Home Alone, Polar Express, Love Actually, Meet Me in St Louis, Elf and Frozen. The judges came all the way from Narnia, Head Judge, Len Goodman was The King of Narnia, Darcey Bussell came as The White Witch, Bruno Tonioli was Prince Caspian and Craig Revel Horwood came as Aslan the Lion.

The all-star extravaganza kicked off in spectacular style with a festive group performance filmed in Knebworth House. Each couple then took to the dance floor for their performance. After which voting took place. Tess then announced Melvin and Janette as the Christmas champions before presenting them with the famous Silver Star trophy.

The show also featured a special musical performance from singer-songwriter Matt Goss with ‘White Christmas’. To close the show, all the couples, dancers and judges took to the dance floor once again for a very special festive routine featuring Head Judge Len Goodman taking to the dance floor for the very last time for a special rendition of ‘Auld Len’s Syne’.
