90210 remake axed by The CW

90210After five seasons of new loves, old flames, shocking betrayals and terrible ratings in recent times rebooted 90210 is to once more be dropped from the television schedules.

The CW channel will see the stars of 90210 bid farewell to the world-famous postcode. With six episodes left to air from this current run the show will end, with a series finale, on Monday May the 13th at 9pm in the states.

“The CW has had five great seasons with America’s favorite zip code, 90210,” said Mark Pedowitz, President of The CW.

“I’d like to thank the talented cast, producers, and crew for all their hard work and dedication to the series. We are very proud of the West Beverly High alumni.” he added.

The series stars Shenae Grimes as Annie Wilson, Tristan Wilds as Dixon Wilson, Anna Lynne McCord as Naomi Clark, Jessica Stroup as Silver, Michael Steger as Navid Shirazi, Jessica Lowndes as Adrianna Tate-Duncan and Matt Lanter as Liam Court.

During the final season, the characters put their relatively carefree days at West Beverly High behind them and launched into adulthood, with only their friendships to lean on. The original Beverly Hills, 90210 ran for a decade launching in 1990 with spin-off shows Melrose Place and Models Inc. following its success. A relaunched Melrose Place also aired on The CW, but ended after one poor rating series three years ago.

90210 is produced by CBS Television Studios.
