The six part series will hit the internet-only television station later this year and continues the BBC’s commitment to bring the best of international comedy and drama to British audiences.

“BBC Three is the perfect home for our girls, Aisling and Danielle. Delighted to showcase the work of our wonderful all female creative team – fresh new writer Stefanie Preissner, award winning director Cathy Brady and stars on the rise Seana Kerslake and Nika McGuigan.” – Ailish McElmeel, Company Director of Deadpan Pictures

Set in Dublin Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope follows best friends and co-habitants, Aisling and Danielle, who live their lives to the full with nights out and drink-fuelled adventures aplenty, protecting each other from the sharper edges of the world. But something is stirring. Danielle would never admit it, but she is becoming disillusioned with the life they’ve created…

The pair have one thing in common – a fear of reality. They don’t know it yet, but reality has them firmly on its radar.

The coming-of-age themed comedy-drama was acquired from Content Media and will be made by Deadpan Pictures, the makers of the International Emmy Award winning Moone Boy. It marks playwright Stefanie Preissner’s first commission for television.

“Can’t Cope, Won’t Cope is a laugh-out-loud series and I’m delighted that it’s coming to BBC Three.” – Damian Kavanagh, Controller of BBC Three
