Mark Holden’s fans will be thrilled to learn that his much anticipated autobiography, My Idol Years, is now available to order.

In this very revealing memoir, Mark talks frankly about the highs and lows of his life and career. He is brutally honest, and has written a fascinating book which you won’t want to put down.

Mark will be best known in the UK as playboy Dr Greg Mason in the hit medical drama serial The Young Doctors, and for his appearances in other television series and films including Case for the Defence, Blue Fire Lady, and Newsfront.

Over in Australia he is equally well known as a chart topping pop star with his trademark white suit and signature red carnation. Mark hit the top of the hit parade in the mid-1970s and early 1980s with songs which defined a generation including I Wanna Make You My Lady, Last Romance and Never Gonna Fall in Love Again.

Mark became a firm favourite with television viewers as an original cast member of The Young Doctors; he would record the serial during the day, before heading to the theatre at night to play the title role in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. He would win the Logie Award for Most Popular Australian Television Teenage Personality two years running, and also landed the prestigious George Wallace Memorial Logie for Best New Talent in 1977.

In the book Mark talks about his highly successful career in the USA as a songwriter and music producer where David Hasselhoff dubbed him, ‘The Music Doctor from Down Under.’ His work has been covered by countless well known acts including Donnie Osmond, and he had two top ten hits with The Temptations. On moving back to Australia, Mark would find a whole new generation of fans as a judge on programmes such as Australian Idol, X-Factor, and due to his memorable appearances as a contestant on Dancing with the Stars.

This is a magnificent account of a remarkable life, a life touched by illness, family drama, and one which has also gone towards helping others through charitable work and a successful career as a barrister. You can order My Idol Years by Mark Holden directly from Transit Lounge Publishing
